This piece was worth millions to the bidder: a whopping 2.8 million dollars went over the table for the artifact from space. But it is also a piece of contemporary history.

The jacket that ex-astronaut Buzz Aldrin (92) flew to the moon on board the “Apollo 11” mission around half a century ago has been auctioned in New York for almost three million dollars. Sotheby’s announced that the garment brought in around $2.8 million at auction, making it the most expensive space artifact ever auctioned and the most expensive jacket ever auctioned.
