The police in Moosburg had already dealt with an attempted murder at the end of last week. As has only now been announced, a 41-year-old living in Canada had apparently traveled to Germany to “clarify family matters with his brother-in-law,” according to the police report. Specifically, the man caught his later victim last Friday at 6 a.m. in front of his apartment building in Moosburg and hit his 53-year-old relative in the head with a hammer. When passers-by became aware of the crime and rushed to help, the perpetrator fled in a rental car. The victim suffered potentially life-threatening head injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The Erding criminal police took over the investigation and initiated extensive search measures. In fact, the 41-year-old was arrested in a hotel in Landshut in the evening. The public prosecutor’s office in Landshut applied for an arrest warrant on suspicion of attempted murder, which was put into effect by the responsible judge. The suspect was taken to jail.
