Attack on helpers: “Shocked, but not surprised” – politics

The attack on aid workers in the Gaza Strip was not an isolated incident. The spokeswoman for the Palestinian Red Crescent reports that even agreements with the Israelis did not protect the emergency services.

The death of the “World Central Kitchen” employees has sparked sharp criticism of Israel. The countries of origin of the dead are demanding clarification, the Palestinian Crescent complains that its staff have been working at risk of their lives since the beginning of the war. According to the organization’s spokeswoman, Nebal Farsakh, they have around 600 employees working for them in Gaza: rescue workers, paramedics, drivers, helpers who distribute supplies, set up tents and offer psychosocial support. More than 196 aid workers have been killed in Gaza since October, according to the U.S.-funded Aid Worker Security Database.
