Attack on a club colleague? Police take PSG player Diallo into custody
Does PSG player Aminata Diallo have anything to do with the attack on a teammate? In any case, the police arrested the 26-year-old.
The French international Aminata Diallo has been taken into custody in connection with a violent attack on a teammate. Corresponding media reports confirmed Diallo’s club, the French champions Paris St. Germain, on Wednesday. PSG, where German national player Sara Däbritz is under contract, did not name the victim.
Media reports and the news agency AFP according to Kheira Hamraoui, who is also active in the French selection. According to the trade newspaper L’Equipe The 31-year-old is said to have gone home last Thursday after a club dinner with Diallo (26) when strangers attacked her with an iron bar and hit her on the legs.
The case brings back memories of one of the most spectacular sports scandals: In 1994, the American figure skater Nancy Kerrigan was injured in the knee by an assassin with an iron bar. The client was Jeff Gillooly, the husband of Kerrigan’s fiercest rival Tonya Harding at the time.
It has not yet been clarified whether Diallo was behind the attack on Hamraoui. There is no charge. PSG condemned the attack “strongly” and otherwise referred to the ongoing investigations in which the club supported the authorities. Further measures would be considered, it said.
Midfielder Hamraoui was absent from the Champions League group game against Real Madrid (4-0) on Tuesday evening – according to Paris “for personal reasons”. Diallo, on the other hand, was in the starting line-up like Däbritz.
