Attack of weakness in the town hall: City council postpones decisions – Munich

The city council has postponed decisions on the heating plan for Munich, the conversion of the municipal utilities’ heating offer to renewable energies and the future of the coal block in the north thermal power station. Originally, the historic decisions for clean air in Munich were supposed to be made in several specialist committees on Tuesday, but these had to be ended without any result. The leader of the Green Party, Mona Fuchs, suffered a faint attack right at the beginning of her speech and had to receive medical care. According to information from the group, she had already recovered significantly by the afternoon.

Immediately after the incident, Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD), in consultation with the parliamentary groups, decided that the agenda items could be rescheduled. He canceled all meetings on Tuesday as a precaution. Reiter will now take care of new appointments. He probably won’t bring all the big decisions to the next general assembly on April 24th because the program there would be too extensive. The decision on a further ban on diesel driving in Munich has already been postponed to the plenary session.

This was actually supposed to happen this Tuesday, but the day before the meeting, the parliamentary groups received the written justification for the decision of the Bavarian Administrative Court, which obliges the city to quickly and better protect the residents of Landshuter Allee and Moosacher Straße from nitrogen dioxide . The reasons for the judgment will now be incorporated into the decision as to whether vehicles with Euronorm 5/V and worse will no longer be allowed to drive in the entire low emission zone including the Middle Ring or whether there will be a route-specific ban on the ring between the Lindau Autobahn and the Georg-Brauchle -Ring will give.
