Jan-Lennard Struff reached the round of 16 at the ATP tournament in Halle, Westphalia.

The currently best German tennis pro won his opening game against the Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin 6: 1, 7: 6 (7: 4) and thus continued his strong performance at the tournament in Stuttgart.

Struff had reached the final there last week, where he had to admit defeat to Frances Tiafoe from the USA in three sets. In Halle, the 33-year-old Warsteiner will face Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan in the round of 16.

Before Struff, Alexander Zverev and Yannick Hanfmann had already reached the round of 16 in the German lawn classic. Zverev meets Canadian Denis Shapovalov there from 5.30 p.m. (Sky). On Thursday, Hanfmann will play Russia’s Andrei Rubljow to get into the quarter-finals. The Terra Wortmann Open is endowed with 2.345 million euros.
