ATP reacts to Novak Djokovic’s situation in Australia

In a statement released Monday evening, five days after the start of the “affair”, the ATP deplored “The series of events” which caused such a stir around the situation of Novak Djokovic – still awaiting a regularization of his situation before the Australian Open – and “Multiple damages, including the well-being and preparation for the Australian Open of Novak”.

She considers this case “Highlighted the need for more clarity in communication and the application of the rules”.

The association considers that the Serb was in good faith in presenting his medical exemption allowing him to enter the territory without being vaccinated but the ATP specifies that his Exemption requests are made independently of ATP although we have been in constant contact with Tennis Australia to provide as much clarity as possible to the process “.

Moreover, ATP continues to strongly recommend vaccination for all players on the tour and claims that 97% of the top 100 players are, which excludes Djokovic and two other players who are currently not in Australia.
