Tennis professional Borna Coric celebrated his first victory in an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
Tennis professional Borna Coric celebrated his first victory in an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
The 25-year-old Croatian defeated the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas 7: 6 (7: 0), 6: 2. Coric had traveled to Mason/Ohio near Cincinnati as 152nd in the world rankings. Success at the $6.3 million hard court event will see the Croatian climb up to 29th place in the rankings. It was his third title overall on the ATP tour.
The German doubles specialist Tim Pütz suffered a defeat in the final alongside his New Zealand partner Michael Venus. Pütz/Venus lost to the combination of Rajeev Ram/Joe Salisbury (USA/Great Britain) 6:7 (4:7), 6:7 (5:7).
