At the Südbahnhof: Tank container tears off overhead line – Munich

A slipped tank container on a freight train was responsible for damage to the overhead line at the Südbahnhof near the Poccistraße subway station on Saturday night. That’s why a passenger train coming from Vienna stopped on the open route; The fire department evacuated him and 70 passengers had to change to taxis.

According to initial findings, the tank container tore down 100 meters of the overhead line around 10 p.m. Several masts were also damaged. The police finally found the freight train – also with the help of a helicopter – at Laim train station. It is not yet clear why the container slipped and will be investigated. In any case, it was empty, and no dangerous substances had leaked from the other containers used to transport dangerous goods.

The track was closed for the duration of the repairs. Train traffic was rerouted via the second, parallel track. The railway assumes damage in the lower six-figure range.

The 70 passengers of the broken down passenger train continued their journey in taxis. Nobody got hurt.
