At least one dead in bridge collapse in Patras, Greece

A bridge has partially collapsed in western Greece. There is said to be at least one dead and several injured. The bridge should be demolished because it was considered to be in danger of collapsing.

At least one person died when a bridge collapsed near the Greek port of Patras, according to the fire brigade. Eight people were injured.

“We are still looking for other people who may be under the rubble,” a member of the rescue team at the scene said on television.

Bridge was evident collapsing

The bridge is on the route that connects the port of Patras with the capital Athens. It was scheduled for demolition because it was unstable, state television reported. According to a firefighter, the bridge had already been closed last week.
