At least five people have been killed at a nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A suspect is in police custody. “Club Q” is particularly popular with gay and lesbian people.
At least five people were killed and 18 others injured in a shooting at a nightclub in the US city of Colorado Springs. This was announced by the police on Sunday night (local time) at a press conference in the state of Colorado.
The police did not say how many people were in the club at the time of the crime. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. Videos shared online showed numerous police vehicles with flashing lights.
A suspicious person was caught by the police in the club and is in custody. Investigations into the motive for the crime were still ongoing. Further details were not initially known.
According to media reports, it is a club that is particularly popular with members of the LGBTQI community. On the Facebook page, “Club Q”, where the incident is said to have occurred, invites people to drag shows, among other things, and events on transgender issues are also on the program. It says that a “gunman was knocked down by guests” and the senseless hate crime was stopped.
