Serious unrest has broken out again in Iran, with many dead. So far, there is a lack of clarity about the exact background.

Tehran (AP) – At least 19 people died in violent riots in southeastern Iran. According to media reports, 20 others were seriously injured. The local intelligence chief of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) was among the dead.

According to the IRGC on Saturday, “terrorist and separatist groups” attacked a police station during Friday prayers in Sahedan. The IRGC said they had arrested several people they described as terrorists. Reports circulated on social media that the incident was related to the ongoing protests. These reports have been denied by the authorities in Sahedan.
