A clash between two groups broke out at Le Mans (Sarthe) on Wednesday evening February 2. Four people were stabbed, two seriously. A dozen individuals were arrested. The brawl occurred in the early evening in the Bellevue district in the northeast of the city, at the terminus of the tram line.
“Four people were stabbed, two of whom underwent surgery and remain in serious condition. However, their vital prognosis is not engaged at this time, ”said the public prosecutor of Le Mans in a press release.
From 14 to 19 years old
According to the magistrate, “two groups of several people clashed, and knife, screwdriver and sticks were struck”. The police, supported by a CRS unit, secured the area and made the first observations. “Ten individuals suspected of being involved” were arrested.
Aged 14 to 19, “these individuals are currently in police custody, as part of the open investigation into the heads of willful violence committed with a weapon and in a meeting, and participation in a group formed with a view to the commission of ‘offences’, specifies the prosecutor. The Le Mans police station “is continuing the investigations, in order to determine the reasons and circumstances of the brawl, and to specify the responsibility of each of the perpetrators”.
