“Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra”: for the release of his cult film in the cinema, Alain Chabat signs a hilarious fake ad

A cult film released in 2002, “Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra” will be back in theaters on July 5 in a remastered version. On this occasion, Alain Chabat unveiled this Friday an irresistible trailer that parodies old advertisements.

By Toutatis, the Gauls are back. More than twenty years after its release, “Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra” is about to land in cinemas on July 5 in a remastered 4K HDR version, with Dolby Atmos sound.

To promote this event, the director Alain Chabat staged himself in a hilarious parody trailer, using all the codes of old advertisements from the 1980s and 1990s. “Thanks to CinéBoost, the latest from 4K laboratories, my film has regained all its freshness. Bigger, more beautiful, stronger, thanks to CinéBoost and its magic lotion, even the sound is more powerful, enveloping, breathtaking”, can we hear.

The proposed session at 5 euros

The former member of Dummies who promises “a few surprises”, also wanted to offer a preferential rate which will apply even after the Film Festival. Spectators will thus be able to take advantage of a screening for 5 euros in partner cinemas to (re)discover this cult film.

“’Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra’ is one of the first in France to have been shot in 35mm and post-produced in digital. To obtain the best possible quality, Pathé has chosen to start from the original unmounted negatives, spread over nearly 300 reels of film. Which is equivalent to redoing, not a ‘simple’ restoration, but all the post-production of the film, twenty years later”, also indicates the press release.

Far ahead of “Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire” by Guillaume Canet and its 6 million spectators, “Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra”, released in 2002, attracted more than 14 spectators and was awarded the César for best suits.
