This bonus is one of the key measures of a more global plan of 38 million euros per year over the period 2023-2027. There is also a “new farmer” endowment, of a maximum amount of 11,500 euros, to support the installation of over 40s. It will be effective on September 1 and comes in addition to the young farmer endowment, capped at 38,000 euros. Various amounts will also be allocated to facilitate the transfer of holdings.
A significant weight in the regional GDP
The agricultural sector is the largest regional employer with 165,000 workers and 21 billion euros in turnover. Occitanie is the most dynamic French region in terms of installations (2,100 per year for ten years) and the second agricultural region in France with more than 60,000 farms on 3.5 million hectares of agricultural area. It is also the first organic territory in France and the first in Europe in number of products bearing an official quality label (IGP, AOP, etc.).
