Death of two-month-old baby: investigations against father
The public prosecutor’s office is investigating the 29-year-old father after the death of a two-month-old child in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The baby died in a clinic over the weekend.
“During the course of the investigation into the cause of death, there was strong suspicion of bodily harm resulting in death against the child’s 29-year-old father,” said Senior Public Prosecutor Beatrix Heuer. The public prosecutor’s office will submit an application for an arrest warrant against the temporarily arrested suspect to the responsible district court on Tuesday.
Further information on individual investigation results is not possible for tactical reasons, out of consideration for the surviving relatives and in view of the investigation that has just begun.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the child died at the weekend in the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Clinic in Neubrandenburg. The public prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation on its own initiative because there were signs of foul play or such could not be ruled out. The cause of death should, among other things, be determined by an autopsy.
