Ingredients for the asparagus from the oven

You need for the asparagus from the oven

  • 12 to 14 stalks of asparagus
  • 4 teaspoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 1 lemon
  • Aluminum foil or baking paper

This is how the asparagus is made from the oven

That’s how it’s done: Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (top and bottom heat). Then the asparagus must be carefully peeled and the ends cut off. Tip: When peeling, always work from top to bottom and use a vegetable peeler. Make sure to protect the asparagus’s sensitive little head. To avoid breakage, especially with thin asparagus spears, you should hold the spears by the head and at the same time support them with the heel of your hand.

To prepare two packages of asparagus, first place two layers of aluminum foil on top of each other. Alternatively, you can also use baking paper. Each package contains a portion of asparagus (6-8 spears). Then put two teaspoons of butter on each and sprinkle the asparagus with a teaspoon of sugar and a good pinch of salt. Wash a lemon with hot water and cut it into slices. Now place two slices of lemon on each asparagus.

Once the asparagus has been prepared, it is crucial to pack it airtight so that it can cook well. First, the first sheet of aluminum foil should be sealed into a package that is not too tight by folding the ends over. Then place the second piece of aluminum foil around the first package and seal it tightly. If using baking paper, we recommend using twine to tie the ends tightly.

The asparagus then goes into the oven on a tray. Depending on the thickness of the asparagus, the baking time is around half an hour to 50 minutes. If the packages bend when you take them out of the oven, the asparagus is ready. The more they bend, the softer the asparagus is. Serve the asparagus with boiled potatoes, for example Hollandaise sauce. Bon appetit!
