Ashton Kutcher reveals an open secret: With Natalie Portman he “basically” made the same film as his wife Mila Kunis.

Almost every fan of Hollywood romantic comedies – or rom-coms for short – has probably noticed how much the scenarios of this genre often resemble each other. Because the films that are considered so formulaic almost always follow special patterns, at the end of which there is of course a happy ending full of love. Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher (44, “Two and a Half Men”) now had in a new installment of his marathon training series “Our Future Selves” his former co-star Natalie Portman (41) from the RomCom “Freundschaft Plus” as a guest. On the treadmill, Kutcher then blurted out a big confession.

Ashton Kutcher: Friendship Plus and Friends With Benefits are “basically” the same movie

The star explained that his 2011 romantic comedy ‘Friendship Plus’ is ‘basically’ the same movie as ‘Friends With Benefits’, also released in 2011. In “Friendship Plus,” Kutcher and Portman play good friends who decide to pursue an exclusively sexual relationship. In “Friends With Benefits,” Justin Timberlake (41) and Kutcher’s future wife Mila Kunis (39) embody two friends who begin an exclusively sexual relationship. In both films, one of the main characters then develops feelings for his “sex-only” partner in a way that is as romantic as it is inevitable.

Mila Kunis acted out the plot of the films with her future husband

Strangely enough, “Freundschaft Plus” and “Freunde mit Vorteiln” (Friends with certain advantages), which started exactly six months later, also achieved roughly the same box office revenue of almost 150 million US dollars at the worldwide box office. Actress Kunis also stated a few years ago that after his separation from Demi Moore (59), she and her future husband Kutcher began to reenact the plot of their aforementioned RomComs. “I was doing a movie called Friends With Benefits. He was doing a very similar movie called Friendship Plus. We lived out our movies. We were like, Let’s have sex. Let’s have fun. We were both single” revealed Kunis in 2018 on the podcast “WTF with Marc Maron”.
