Ashanti now has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the unveiling, the singer spoke of a “surreal” feeling.

The American singer Ashanti (41) was allowed to immortalize herself on the Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. On Thursday, she unveiled her own plaque on Hollywood Boulevard, arguably the most famous sidewalk in the world. “It’s surreal”, tells Ashanti during the ceremony. She was “shocked, stunned and beyond measure grateful” for this award.

It’s a milestone in her long career and the fact that the star would stay there forever is “a big deal” for her. The historic award follows 20 years after their self-titled debut album hit number one on the US charts. The Grammy Award winner has released 18 Top 100 hits to date and has also made a career as an actress. Among other things, she was seen in the films “Coach Carter” alongside Samuel L. Jackson (73) or in “Resident Evil: Extinction” with Milla Jovovich (46).

Her mother had a great influence on her career

In her speech, Ashanti thanked her family, who made her career possible in the first place. Her mother in particular played a major role and had already predicted that her daughter would one day be immortalized on the Walk of Fame. “My family has been my support from the beginning,” reports Ashanti. She herself never woke up and said, “I want to be a star”. All of this developed rather accidentally.
