Aschaffenburg files eviction proceedings against slaughterhouse operators – Bavaria

The city of Aschaffenburg has filed an eviction lawsuit against the operator of the local slaughterhouse. The lawsuit was submitted to the regional court last week, a city spokeswoman said on Wednesday. The Bayerischer Rundfunk had previously reported.

The administration therefore expects the process to be lengthy. First, the written statement will be sent to the other side for a statement. The city had terminated the lease agreement with the slaughterhouse and set an eviction deadline of October 15th. Since, according to the city, the operator allowed this deadline to pass, the previously announced lawsuit followed. The operator could not initially be reached for comment.

According to the information, the background to the termination is an investigation into serious animal rights violations in the slaughterhouse. The animal protection organization “Soko Tierschutz” published shocking video footage in the summer. These showed employees treating pigs and cattle with electric shockers and obviously dismantling living animals.

An official veterinarian is said to have warned the slaughterhouse about controls. The public prosecutor’s office is investigating more than ten suspects.
