In his role as special ambassador, the US film star wants to set an example. And calls for global solidarity with refugees.

US film star Ben Stiller (56) visited Ukraine as a special ambassador for the UN refugee agency UNHCR and met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

«Ukrainians feel the support of the whole world, many well-known people. And Ben Stiller’s visit confirms that again, »wrote Zelenskyj on Instagram. He also posted a video showing the two meeting.

Stiller wanted to meet people in Ukraine who had to flee because of the war and who had lost everything, as he said earlier in Kyiv. Among other things, the actor visited the Kiev suburb of Irpin, which was badly damaged by Russian troops.

On the occasion of World Refugee Day, Stiller (“Night at the Museum”) called for global solidarity. “War and violence are destroying people all over the world,” he said on Twitter. “No one just flees their home like that. Seeking protection is a right that must be granted to all people.”
