Google expands its AI-powered search about image generation based on image descriptions and the creation of texts.
Users can in Search Labs (SGE) Enter prompts to generate four AI-generated images as drawings, photos, or paintings. The images can be downloaded as PNGs or optimized by editing the original prompt.
The function is made possible by Google’s Imagen image generation model. A similar feature is provided for Google Image Search, where boxes appear asking users to create new images if needed photos are not found.
According to Google, filters exist to prevent inappropriate or explicit content in the images generated by AI. The tool is limited to people aged 18 and over due to concerns about AI imaging. Metadata and invisible watermarks are also embedded to mark the images as AI-generated.
SGE’s existing ability to write drafts for email and other purposes can now output text in various lengths and tones. Users can switch between longer and shorter drafts as well as serious and casual language styles.
The text and generated images can be exported to Google Drive and the Workspace apps. Both features will roll out in the next few weeks to SGE users who have the Labs tool enabled in English search.
Google said the pace of AI development requires responsible implementation of new features. The company added feedback mechanisms in SGE to monitor issues and abuse.
SGE aims to provide a conversational alternative to traditional search. The AI assistant aggregates information from websites and generates tailored responses to natural language queries.
