An artificial embryo, created without sperm or egg, without a uterus, grown from human stem cells in the laboratory – you don’t have to be delicate to find this report disturbing. On Wednesday, a working group from the Weizmann Institute in Israel described this in the science journal Nature now exactly that. There were a number of similar reports in early summer; the team led by the Israeli-Arab stem cell researcher Jacob Hanna had also published a preliminary version of the report that had not yet been peer-reviewed Nature-Essay caused a stir not only in the professional world.
