Arsene Wenger was a sought-after man during his coaching career. The Frenchman turned down some offers from well-known clubs.

Long-time Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger says he has turned down several offers from high-ranking clubs and associations during his career. The Alsatian reveals this in the documentary “Arsene Wenger: Invincible”, which will be officially released on November 11th.

Wenger explains in a previously published excerpt: “I could have taken over the French national team and also been England coach two or three times. I announced Real Madrid twice.”

He also gave Italy’s record champions Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain a basket each. “And even Manchester United,” said Wenger. United coaching legend Sir Alex Ferguson and Wenger once had a deep dislike for each other.

Wenger successfully coached Arsenal FC from 1996 to 2018 and won the unbeaten championship title in the Premier League with the Gunners in 2004. The 72-year-old has been working as Director Development for the world association FIFA since 2019.
