Arsenal FC: ‘I wasn’t the problem’ – Arteta responds to Aubameyang’s blame game
After Aubameyang’s accusation that Arteta was the reason for his move to Barcelona, the Arsenal coach now commented on the 32-year-old.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has responded to the blaming of former striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
“I am very grateful for what Auba has done and for the contribution he has made,” Arteta said at the press conference ahead of his side’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday, adding: “However, I see myself in this relationship as a solution, not a problem.”
Arsenal: Aubameyang blamed Arteta
Aubameyang, who joined FC Barcelona from Arsenal a few days ago, had recently answered the question of whether a personal problem with Arteta had led to his move: “Only he had a problem and he made his decision. That’s all I can say, I wasn’t happy.”
Since moving to London from Borussia Dortmund in early 2018, Aubameyang has played a key role in the Gunners’ team for years. However, the 32-year-old Gabonese had not been in Arsenal’s squad since early December due to disagreements with Arteta.
Last Sunday, Aubameyang, who has signed until 2025 at the Camp Nou, made his Barca debut. He came on as a substitute half an hour before the end of the 4-2 win over Atletico Madrid.
