The van fled from police control

The small van from Austria then left the road at high speed while fleeing the police checkpoint and overturned. Several occupants were thrown from the car. Only nine people were allowed to be transported in the minibus – there were a total of 23 passengers on board, including the driver, people from Syria and Turkey. The public prosecutor’s office said they were smuggled into the federal territory “completely unsecured.”

Germany has been recording a sharp increase in the number of unauthorized entries from abroad for months. According to the authorities, smugglers repeatedly put refugees in acute danger of smuggling, for example when transporting them unsecured on loading areas or in airtight trucks.
