An employee of the AfD’s top candidate Krah is said to have spied for the Chinese secret service. An investigating judge has now executed an arrest warrant against Jian G., the Federal Prosecutor’s Office announced.

The employee of AfD MEP Maximilian Krah, who was arrested on suspicion of spying for China, is in custody. An investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice executed the arrest warrant on Wednesday night, said a spokeswoman for the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe.

The accusation is that he acted as an agent for a foreign secret service in a particularly serious case. According to the Federal Prosecutor General (GBA), the arrested Jian G. is said to have passed on information from the EU Parliament.

According to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, the employee was arrested by the Saxony State Criminal Police Office on Monday in Dresden. The accused’s apartments were therefore searched.

Krah stays Top candidate

Krah himself once again spoke of a “very serious accusation.” He met with the AfD leadership in the morning for consultations. He wants to remain the AfD’s top candidate for the European elections. He cannot be accused of “any personal misconduct”.

Krah said in Berlin that he would terminate his accused employee later today. He was “very interested” in clarifying the allegations against his assistant. In his office, “we will continue to work on reconstructing everything that was revised during the period in question,” Krah continued.

The AfD’s goal is now to get the election campaign back on track before the European elections. The election campaign is “unfortunately being terribly overshadowed” by the allegations. “We’re talking about China, not Europe,” said Krah, adding: “We have to get away from this very unpleasant matter.” The “matter” must “go where it belongs – to the judicial authorities.”

Krah is a member of the committees on international trade, but also on the subcommittees on human rights and security and defense, and he is also part of the delegation for relations with the USA.

In a silver car, a man covers his face. He is said to be the now imprisoned Jian G.

Jian G. probably worked for China’s secret service

The German citizen G. is said to be an employee of a Chinese secret service. He is said to have worked for Krah since 2019. In January of this year, according to the Federal Prosecutor General, he is said to have repeatedly passed on information about negotiations and decisions in the European Parliament. He also spied on Chinese opposition members in Germany for the intelligence service.

China has so far clearly rejected the espionage allegations. The accusations were intended to “slander and suppress China” and were aimed at “destroying the atmosphere of cooperation between China and Europe,” said Wang Wenbin, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry in Beijing, on Tuesday.
