Arrest of WDR journalist Tuncay Özdamar in Ankara – Media

WDR journalist Tuncay Özdamar was arrested in September as he tried to enter Turkey. What apparently led to this tells of the arbitrariness in the Turkish justice system.

The Istanbul lawyer Veysel Ok has been working for a long time in an environment that often seems tragicomic to him: the Turkish constitutional state. “It would be laughable if it weren’t so tragic,” he told West German Radio. For example, Ok represented the journalist Deniz Yücel. The fact that he now spoke to WDR has to do with his new client. His name is Tuncay Özdamar and he is also a journalist and heads the Turkish editorial team of the WDR radio station Cosmo.
