Arnd Peiffer ended his biathlon career in the spring. Now he is becoming a winter sports expert for ARD.

Arnd Peiffer (34) is part of the winter sports expert team of the “Sportschau” for the 2021/22 season. The ARD announced this Thursday (October 14th) in a message. From December, Peiffer, who ended his biathlon career in March 2021, will alternate with Kati Wilhelm (45) in the biathlon broadcasts. He will thus represent colleague Magdalena Neuner (34), who is currently on maternity leave.

“Keep going very close”

“For me it is great that after twelve years as an active participant in the World Cup, I can continue to be very close in this way,” said Peiffer, delighted about his new role. “The analytical aspects of our sport have always fascinated me and I look forward to immersing myself in the competitions with the spectators,” explains the sprint Olympic champion and five-time world champion.

In addition to his TV job, the ex-biathlete works at the Federal Police Sports School, where he wants to create the best possible conditions for competitive athletes in their dual careers. He will celebrate his premiere as a TV expert alongside presenter Michael Antwerpes (58) on December 2, 2021 at the Biathlon World Cup in Östersund. In addition to Peiffer and Wilhelm, the team of winter sports experts also includes Felix Neureuther (37, alpine skiing) and Sven Hannawald (46, ski jumping).
