Armin Grein is dead: the grand seigneur of the Free Voters – Bavaria

Armin Grein helped write the history of Bavarian politics: he was mayor, district administrator and founding father of the Free Voters. He did not always agree with his successor. To the death of a caring person and politician.

Anyone who wants to know what a fine person Armin Grein was, generously endowed with patience, affection and good nature, can recount an episode in the Main-Spessart district office, sometime in the late 1980s. The district administrator of the Free Voters in the Lower Franconian district had a woman sitting in the office who urgently wanted to speak to him. She complained that her driver’s license had been taken away without justification and that the district administrator had to intervene. The hastily obtained file, however, indicated that the woman had drug problems, and Grein presented the situation in a “friendly but clear” manner. But the woman only stayed for an hour, every attempt to “compliment” her failed, and even more serious references to trespassing and the police had no effect. But Grein didn’t want to get serious. The woman “camped” with the district administrator for four hours until she won “the seat meat competition”.
