It’s a race against time, but the many helpers are not giving up in their search for the boy who has been missing since Monday evening near Bremervörde in northern Lower Saxony. The police have now changed their approach. “We have again set up new search corridors and are searching there, but not with long chains of police or people, but in smaller groups,” said a police spokesman on Friday. The search is focused on an area northwest of Elm, the six-year-old’s hometown. Searches are also being carried out along the Oste River. Hundreds of police, fire brigade, German Red Cross and Bundeswehr personnel are still in action.

Search for Arian from Bremervörde now also with light cones and children’s songs

During the search, the emergency services also played children’s songs and used so-called skybeamers during the night. These are headlights that project a beam of light into the sky, the police said. Together with the children’s songs, the Skybeamers were intended to provide incentives for the missing boy to visit the locations.

According to police, Arian was last seen in his residential area on Monday around 7:15 p.m. A surveillance camera filmed him running towards an adjacent forest. It was said that the six-year-old may have walked from there past a rapeseed field along an unpaved road into the forest.

Since then, hundreds of emergency services and helpers have been on the move and searching the area around the affected residential area. Due to the low temperatures and Arian’s comparatively light clothing – he was wearing a sweater but no jacket – the police described the situation as very serious. According to police, the boy is autistic and does not respond when spoken to.

The police have set up a tip line and released pictures of Arian. More information about this here.
