The number of requests to renew their identity card or passport is still high (12 million in 2022). On the other hand, town halls lack the means to systematically provide this service. The deadline for renewing one’s identity document is sixty-six days on average, but it can take up to six months in some municipalities. In early 2023, the government announced the opening of 500 additional check-in stations, then the creation of a site to centralize appointment bookings.
