She could be seen, but not heard – at least in the first few minutes: At her premiere as a presenter of “Do you understand fun?” the sound went out with Barbara Schöneberger.

The light blue glitter jumpsuit was in place, as was the choreography – just not the sound: Ironically, at her premiere as the presenter of “Do you understand fun?” the sound at Barbara Schöneberger (48) failed on Saturday evening.

For minutes, the moderator could not be heard in the first, who choreographed and sang with dancers on her debut. Even when she was introduced afterwards, the 48-year-old initially remained silent on the TV screens.

Hostess saw it with wit

“By the way, we had a bit of a sound problem at the beginning,” Schöneberger later explained to her viewers – and asked actor and show guest Hans Sigl (“Der Bergdoktor”): “I’ve been rehearsing this song for months. Didn’t you hear it?” A few minutes after the breakdown, the sound worked again. The hostess then joked about it. For example, when the viewers voted for the show on the Internet: “That worked technically. It’s not a matter of course on Saturday evening.”

The first guest was 48-year-old Paola Felix, who moderated the Saturday evening show with her husband Kurt from 1983 to 1990 and had fooled Schöneberger for her premiere on a tour. “It’s a coming home,” Felix said on the show. In addition to the 71-year-old, several TV greats such as Harald Schmidt, Dieter Hallervorden, Cherno Jobatey, Frank Elstner and most recently Guido Cantz moderated the ARD classic, in which pranks were played on people and a hidden camera filmed their reactions.

Standing ovation at the end

In addition to actor Sigl, the twins Lisa and Lena, the entertainer couple Jana Ina and Giovanni Zarrella and the former ski racer Martina Ertl were also guests. During a surprise action at the end of the show, Schöneberger was thrown at paint bags by her guests in a white protective suit. Despite the sound problems, Schöneberger received a standing ovation from the audience and said: “I’m looking forward to the next few years.”
