They are called MDR Aktuell, HR-Info or BR24, and as public information waves they promise the latest from the respective broadcasting area; in the case of BR24 even programmatically in the station name: around the clock. But that’s exactly what most people don’t do anymore, at least not around the clock – and even less in the future. That is the core of the latest cooperation between the ARD broadcasters, which is now being planned for cost reasons. NDR boss Joachim Knuth announced on Friday that there should be a joint evening program from 8 p.m., and BR also produces a Saturday program that all ARD information waves can take over.
