The team of investigators in the Rostock “Polizeiruf 110” crime thriller has two murders to solve and looks into the abyss of child abuse in a family. It becomes clear: Crime begets crime.

The family’s middle-class façade with its own home and front garden lasts a long time. But calls from the daughter, who has been missing for 15 years and ultimately declared dead, and the girl’s hair at a bloody crime scene unexpectedly trigger ever-growing cracks. The unlikely investigators Katrin König (Anneke Kim Sarnau) and Melly Böwe (Lina Beckmann) uncover the truth piece by piece in their second case together. The episode “Police call 110″ runs at 8:15 p.m. under the title “Only Ghosts” on the first.

Daughter Jessica disappeared from home without a trace as a teenager. She left her brother, who was three years younger, behind. The mother is deeply sad and firmly believes that Jessica is alive. Her father has long since resigned and hopes that she died quickly. But then forensics make a strange discovery at a crime scene where a doctor was murdered in a way that investigator Anton Pöschel (Andreas Guenther) characterizes as “torture at its finest.” The find: Jessica’s hair.

Investigators agree: Mother is hiding something

The investigators take a closer look at the family. Above all, the daydreaming mother Evelyn (Judith Engel) lives in her very own world where she sees her daughter. The explosive king and the sensitive bow agree that she is hiding something and lying. And she is hiding something important: her husband brutally abused their daughter as a child. Son Henrik (Adrian Grünewald) also noticed this, whose life as an adult has gone completely off track.

While König struggles with her personal “ghost” – her own father seeks contact with her after more than 40 years – there are increasing indications that Jessica is alive and taking revenge on her tormentors. “You’re next,” she tells her father, who is strangled on his boat a short time later, but first confesses that he raped his daughter. At the end of the episode, the mother, who has always covered up the life lie, also receives a call from the past and goes to a meeting point with Jessica. But she doesn’t meet her daughter there.
