While “Lange Eugen” has reigned supreme in Bonn for decades, Hamburg has been struggling with “Short Olaf” for a while. This is the nickname of the unfinished megalomania project “Elbtower”. Its skeleton is – for political decision-makers even more than for the interested public – a memorial, a reminder not to throw money in bags after every soldier of fortune in the real estate industry. At least that much can be taken away from the current news situation and from the recently completed ARD documentary “René Benko: The Gambler and Politics”.
