Bird hedgehog porcupine. This is the name of an MDR radio play by Mara May and Juraté Braginaité, which was awarded the ARD German Radio Play Prize last November. At the time, no one could have known Bird hedgehog porcupine is on the Red List of Threatened Species. But now it is clear: This radio play is the last of its kind and there will be no more winners. Because ARD is discontinuing the German Radio Play Prize, which it has awarded for almost 20 years, since 2006. It is one of the three important awards for this art genre, alongside the War Blind Radio Play Prize and the Academy of Performing Arts competition for radio play of the year.
