Apprenticeship market – Good opportunities for young people – District of Munich

According to the responsible employment agency, the high level of willingness to train on the part of companies in the city and district of Munich creates good opportunities for young people. In purely mathematical terms, there were around 160 reported jobs for every 100 young people looking for an apprenticeship, according to the balance sheet for the 2021/22 training year. The other side of the coin: many employers could not have filled their positions or not in full. According to the report, in the reporting year from October 2021 to September 2022, 6221 applicants for a training position contacted the careers advice service of the Employment Agency in Munich. That is 147 young women and men more than in the previous year, which corresponds to an increase of 2.4 percent.

In the same period, 9,770 training positions were reported to the agency’s employer service – this is a slight decrease of 144 positions or 1.5 percent compared to the previous year. As of September 30, there were still 665 vacant training positions, but in 2021 there were almost twice as many at this time, with 1131 positions. The most sought-after people are merchants and saleswomen and women in retail and trades, as well as medical assistants in medical and dental practices.

On the same date, there were 164 applicants without a training position, 14 fewer than in the previous year. Efforts are currently being made to provide them with an apprenticeship, funding or other alternative by the end of the year, the employment agency reports. Anyone who is still looking for an apprenticeship can contact the Munich careers advice service (telephone: 0800/455 55 00) or the JiBB – Young People in Education and Career – a central point of contact that advises young people on all matters relating to training, work and studies advises and accompanies (hotline: 089/54 54 17 79 42).
