Status: December 28, 2021 10:00 p.m.

The diplomat Ron Prosor becomes Israel’s new ambassador to Germany. The 63-year-old previously held several top diplomatic posts at the United Nations and in Great Britain. His father is from Germany.

The future ambassador from Israel already knows his way around Germany well. Prosor worked as a spokesman in the embassy in Bonn in the 1980s. He was one of the first representatives of Israel to establish relations with the GDR. He was moved from the bottom of his heart, said Prosor, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry. His father was born in Germany.

One of the most important ambassadorial posts worldwide

Prosor is a career diplomat. He has been Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations and to Great Britain. He was appointed ambassador to Berlin by Foreign Minister Yair Lapid. He said that with Prosor the cooperation with the new government in Berlin should be further strengthened. The Israeli Foreign Ministry did not write when Prosor took up his duties.

In Berlin, Prosor is replacing the previous ambassador, Jeremy Issacharoff, who has been in Berlin since 2017. Israel and Germany established official diplomatic relations 20 years after the end of the Second World War. Today the two countries work very closely together in many areas.
