Robert F. Kennedy, nephew of former US President John F. Kennedy, is running for the presidency of the Democratic Party. He became known primarily for false claims about the corona vaccination.
The nephew of former US President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, has submitted his application for the presidential candidacy in the USA. According to a document Kennedy submitted to the National Electoral Commission on Wednesday, he wants to run for incumbent Joe Biden’s Democratic Party.
Kennedy is the son of then Senator Robert “Bobby” Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1968. At the time of his assassination, he too was aspiring to the US presidency. Kennedy’s uncle, former President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas in 1963.
From environmental advocate to anti-vaccination
Robert F. Kennedy was a best-selling author and attorney who championed environmental issues. More than 15 years ago he joined the anti-vaccination movement in the US and became its leading voice. Health experts and even members of his own family describe his activities as dangerous. In the course of the corona pandemic, the 69-year-old was also criticized for false claims about vaccinations against Covid.
Kennedy is the second Democratic contender for the presidential nomination. At the beginning of March, the 70-year-old author Marianne Williamson officially announced her entry into the race.
Biden candidacy not yet official
Biden has not yet officially announced his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election. However, this step is generally expected. Should he try again for the highest state office, his challengers would first have to prevail against him in internal party primaries. However, both applicants are given hardly any chances for this.
In addition to former President Donald Trump, former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson are also running for the Republican nomination for the presidency.
