It offers some improvements compared to its predecessor and is particularly surprising with the price.

At the Apple event on September 12th, the tech company presented the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in addition to the iPhone 15 and the Apple Watch 9. The manufacturer’s premium watch offers all the improvements that the new 9 model also brings, but has a brighter OLED display with 3,000 cd/m², which is particularly advantageous for outdoor activities.

The price of the Apple Watch Ultra 2
The price for the Apple Watch Ultra caused the jaws of quite a few Apple fans to hit the hard ground when it was released. The premium smartwatch cost just under 1,000 euros when it was launched, but prices are currently falling and are around 900 euros. Experts actually did not expect the Ultra 2 to be much more expensive and to break the 1,000 euro barrier when it was launched on the market. Nevertheless, the price of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is a bit of a surprise.

More performance, new finger gestures and watchOS 10
Visually, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 has not developed any further than its predecessor. The sapphire crystal still protects against scratches and the case is made of titanium – which was 95 percent recycled.
The new S9 SiP (“System on a Package”) brings improved performance and combines an incredible 5.6 billion transistors on the chip – 60 percent more than its predecessor. The graphics chip is 30 percent more powerful and the Neural Engine is twice as fast.
The night mode of the smartwatch display, which shows the contents in red, can now be activated automatically by the ambient light sensor. New finger gestures enable quick actions such as answering, holding and ending calls.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 features the new watchOS 10, which offers some new features. Including several features that are exciting for cycling training. New watch faces, such as Snoopy, Palette or a new Nike watch face. New compass waypoints and map features make finding your adventure destination even easier. Tools to support mental health, such as the mindfulness app or the ability to log your mood.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 battery life still weak
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has a lot of functions and features, but the smartwatch has one not insignificant disadvantage: its battery life. This lasts for 36 hours under “normal” use, and according to the manufacturer it can last for 72 hours in low power mode. For the competition, nothing more than a reason to smile. Garmin, which made Apple sweat with a diss, scores with the Epix Pro with six days of battery life under normal use and even 21 days (!) in energy saving mode. Also the Fitbit Sense 2 brings it to six days – at a noticeably lower price.
