After losing a patent case against the medical technology company Masimo, Apple is suspending sales of the new Apple Watch models in the USA.

Apple is stopping the sale of new models of its computer watch in the USA as a precautionary measure after losing a patent case. The Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 will no longer be sold on the company’s US website from December 21st and will not be sold in Apple Stores in the USA after December 24th.

dispute over Measurement technology

In October, the medical technology company Masimo prevailed in proceedings before the US trade authority ITC to ban the import of the two watch models into the USA. Masimo accuses Apple of using patented technology for measuring oxygen levels in the blood in the new models without a license. US President Joe Biden has until December 25th to overturn the ITC decision with his veto.

Apple says it is taking precautions in the event that the import ban remains in place. The Californian technology group also confirmed that it did not agree with the ITC’s decision. Various ways are being pursued to make the watches more available to consumers.
