Apple launches the Vision Pro on February 2 in the United States

Apple announces the marketing of the Vision Pro for February 2. It will be sold in all American Apple Stores as well as on the online store. The price initially given remains at $3,499 and it indicates for the first time a storage capacity of 256 GB (the chip is the M2, no change, accompanied by the R1 which manages the cameras, sensors and microphones). Pre-orders will open on January 19.

The helmet is sold with two harnesses, the first with the headband that passes behind the head, the second with two straps that pass over the head for a better fit. Also provided are protection for the front panel with the screen, a light cover, the USB-C external battery with its cable and power adapter as well as a cloth. The ZEISS inserts will be sold separately at $99 for the magnifying model (typically for reading) and $149 for the second with corrective lenses. These two supplements must be ordered online after a test in the Apple Store.

Specifically regarding battery life, the Vision Pro will offer up to 2 hours in general use and 2.5 hours in video playback. It won’t be enough for all films, but at least for the vast majority.

The Vision Pro will have a cap for its visor

Apple recalls that the 1 million and some iOS and iPadOS applications work directly with VisionOS. Some are more particularly highlighted. In the field of leisure, Apple TV+ and Disney+ and other services are cited for immersing yourself in video content. As well as specially adapted games (Game Room, What the Golf?, Super Fruit Ninja). 150 films will be offered with a 3D display (no title or price is mentioned). For work, Apple mentioned Fantastical, Microsoft 365 or Slack. The Persona function, which displays a 3D rendering of your face when you wear the headset, will work with Zoom, Webex or even Teams. Apple is careful to emphasize that this function will be in beta. Not everything should work correctly yet.

Apple is not giving any indication at this stage for launching in other countries. Bloomberg indicated yesterday that Canada, China and the United Kingdom could be next on the list later this year.
