Apple devices with foldable displays: Samsung is reportedly already preparing

It is either an uncertain bet on the future or a concrete order preparation: According to a media report, Samsung is currently restructuring its display division in order to be able to supply Apple with foldable displays. In industry circles, this is seen as a sign that the Californians could bring out such a device for the first time after years of research and many patent applications.

Despite the fierce competition in the smartphone market, Samsung is one of Apple’s most important and largest suppliers in the display sector. The South Korean group sees a major growth opportunity in the foldable screen segment, reports the Korean electronics magazine The Elec. In addition to foldables, Samsung is also repositioning itself in the area of displays for XR headsets.

Samsung and its competitor LG are said to both have foldable 20.25-inch displays in preparation for a future Apple product. The size suggests an iPad or notebook. The restructuring should help to stay ahead when it comes to awarding contracts. Display analyst Ross Young does not expect an Apple device with a foldable display until 2025. Some time ago he also mentioned the 20-inch display and in this context spoke of a notebook.
