Apparently a lioness escaped in the south of Berlin – panorama

A lioness is apparently on the move south of Berlin. There are authentic witness reports and also traces that point to this, says a spokesman for the Brandenburg police Süddeutsche Zeitung. “We assume that a lioness is illegal in the forest area. Unauthorized, at least in our latitudes.”

The authorities warn the residents around Kleinmachnow, Teltow and Stahnsdorf not to leave the house. Pets should also be kept safe, it says in a tweet from the Brandenburg police. The police are on their way with a helicopter to find the big cat. They are supported by hunters and the official veterinarian.

The residents were also informed via the warning app “Nina”.

A local resident saw the animal around midnight and filmed it eating a wild animal. The police have secured the traces, says the spokesman. Since then the lioness has disappeared. The police assume that it is in a wooded area and is sleeping.

In addition to the whereabouts of the big cat, another question is unclear: “We simply do not know where it comes from,” says the police spokesman. Neither zoos nor circuses missed a lioness. However, the police spokesman is optimistic that the owner or owners will be identified. “That’s not a normal cat. If a lioness comes to Germany, it has to be documented.” But the priority is to find the animal.
