There is a small fountain in the garden in front of her apartment on Lake Starnberg. “It’s from Nockherberg,” says Antonia von Romatowski. “I was allowed to take it home after a singspiel in which it was a decoration.” Romatowski, 45, has played at Nockherberg since 2014; she always put on a fat suit, put on a wig and made her hands into a diamond – and then she went out on stage to parody Chancellor Angela Merkel. Merkel has stopped. What does someone do who has played them body and soul for 18 years?
