When a hiring proposal sparks controversy, it’s usually a sign that something has gone wrong. Just like with Ferda Ataman, who is to be elected anti-discrimination commissioner of the federal government this week. The Union vehemently rejects Ataman, apart from Armin Laschet, for whom Ataman once worked as a speechwriter. There are also strong irritations in the FDP, how many liberals will vote no in the end is open. The criticism is not surprising.
