Ansbach train station will be an ICE stop from December. About 20 high-speed trains on the Munich-Augsburg-Würzburg-Hamburg line will stop in the Middle Franconian district capital per week, as Deutsche Bahn announced in Munich on Tuesday. The ICE stop in Ansbach will come with the next timetable change on December 11th.
From April 1, 2023, the city in western Central Franconia will temporarily lose its ICE stop again, according to the DB Group: The Fulda-Kassel express route, a section of the Munich-Hamburg ICE connection, will then be closed for renovation work. From December 2023 onwards, ICE trains will run on the route again – and stop in Ansbach.
According to Deutsche Bahn, the ICE trains running via Ansbach complement the heavily frequented range of trains on the Munich-Nuremberg-Würzburg-Hamburg line. So far, Ansbach has already been connected to the DB long-distance network by the IC trains that run between Nuremberg and Stuttgart/Karlsruhe.
