A 21-year-old drunk stole a military vehicle from a US barracks in Central Franconia and took it for a spin. The man was found unconscious in the SUV in Ergersheim (Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district), the police said on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old stole the vehicle after initial investigations in the US military’s Shipton barracks in Ansbach. According to the investigators, the man had noticed the police in the past with similar drunk driving. Among other things, he stole a military SUV from another barracks in 2021 and drove it around the region.
The investigators first became aware of the man in 2020 when he dug several holes in a forest with a stolen excavator. The man does not have a valid driver’s license. The police are investigating, among other things, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and drunk driving.
