No Schmonzette, but an image boost for the Bad Tölz location is the decision that the new transfer and innovation center in the Oberland (Tizio) of the Munich University of Applied Sciences should be opened in the spa town at the end of 2023. In January, Science Minister Bernd Sibler (CSU) announced this at a press conference in the district office. The Free State is investing almost seven million euros in the so-called Tizio. It is intended to give companies access to the university’s research and development activities. High-tech on the Bad Tölz campus – that sounds good.
However, the spa town is still plagued by the lack of beds for guests who want to stay overnight. Johannes Tien would like to remedy the situation and open his “Bergblick” nature hotel on the Wackersbergerhöhe with around 100 beds in May 2023. What the neighbors didn’t like at all and took it to the administrative court in Munich. The reason: One fears noise from day guests and fine dust pollution from the heating system. But the court refused to stop construction and the plaintiffs backed down. Maybe Bad Tölz will get the long-awaited hotel after all.
